Sail in Asia provides independent advisory support to international schools looking to develop or enhance their outdoor education programmes. Drawing on many years of practical experience, we can help schools establish safe, sustainable and engaging sailing and outdoor education activities that complement their educational objectives.

Our experience includes supporting the development of Phuket Yacht Club's Junior Sailing Programme and working with Harrow International School to establish safety boat training, implement robust teaching systems and develop effective Quality Management Systems (QMS). Whether you are introducing outdoor education for the first time or expanding an existing programme, we can provide practical guidance tailored to your school's needs.

Our outdoor education programmes combine a wide range of water-based and land-based activities, allowing schools to create a bespoke programme that matches their educational objectives, available time and the age of their students.

One of our most popular activities is the Cardboard Boat Challenge, where students work together to design, build and race a seaworthy boat using only cardboard and basic materials. It's a fun and engaging exercise that develops creativity, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills while encouraging students to think strategically under pressure.

Expeditions & Adventurous Journeys

Sail in Asia offers professionally planned expeditions that challenge students to develop confidence, leadership and teamwork in a real-world environment. Based around the spectacular islands of Phuket and Phang Nga Bay, our adventurous journeys combine practical sailing skills with experiential learning, creating memorable experiences that stay with students long after the programme has ended.

Students learn to work together as a crew, overcome challenges, make informed decisions and develop confidence in an ever-changing outdoor environment. Every expedition is carefully planned and supervised by experienced instructors, ensuring a safe, rewarding and unforgettable adventure for every participant.

Teacher Training

Sail in Asia provides professional training and development for teachers, instructors and school staff involved in outdoor education and water sports programmes. Led by Mike Downard, ISSA Instructor Trainer and Examiner for Asia, our courses are designed to help schools develop the skills, confidence and operational procedures needed to deliver safe, effective outdoor education.

With decades of experience in outdoor education, sailing instruction and instructor development, Mike has helped schools, clubs and organisations establish sustainable training programmes and internationally recognised teaching standards.

Sail in Asia has worked with leading international schools, including Harrow International School, providing specialist training, advisory support and practical guidance to help establish safe, professionally managed outdoor education programmes.
