Course Summary

The ISSA Yacht Crew Course is a practical four-day introduction to sailing, designed for complete beginners. With most of the course spent on the water, you’ll learn how to work safely and confidently as an active member of a yacht’s crew.

During the course you’ll gain hands-on experience in helming, sail handling, tacking, gybing, anchoring, berthing and crew-overboard recovery. You’ll also develop a practical understanding of yacht safety, basic navigation, weather and seamanship.

No previous sailing experience is required. On successful completion, you’ll receive the internationally recognised ISSA Yacht Crew Certificate and have a strong foundation for progressing to the ISSA Inshore Skipper course.

There is a  handbook that is available to students for elements to this course.  These can be purchased at the shop individually or in the near future as a compendium edition.
