Course Summary
The ISSA Inshore Skipper Multihull Course is a comprehensive 10-day programme designed for sailors with previous experience who are ready to take command of a cruising multihull. You’ll develop the practical sailing skills, navigation knowledge and confidence needed to skipper safely in coastal waters.
Classroom theory is reinforced with extensive practical training on the water, covering navigation, pilotage, meteorology, passage planning, sail handling, anchoring, marina manoeuvres and crew management. Throughout the course you’ll apply your new knowledge under the guidance of experienced instructors.
The course may be completed entirely aboard a multihull, although Sail in Asia recommends training across a range of yachts, keelboats and multihulls where possible. This broader experience helps students better understand the handling differences between vessel types and prepares them for bareboat chartering or future yacht ownership.
On successful completion, you’ll receive the internationally recognised ISSA Inshore Skipper Certificate and be well prepared to continue your training towards the ISSA Offshore Skipper Course.
The official ISSA Inshore Skipper Student Handbook (used for both monohull and multihull training) is available separately and provides an excellent companion to your practical training. It can be purchased individually from our handbook shop and is available immediately as a downloadable edition.
