below are just a few examples of courses where RIB Skipper 2 Course is either very useful or required.

The ISSA RIB Skipper 2 Course is designed for students who already hold the ISSA VHF Radio Operator Certificate and wish to develop the practical and theoretical skills required to skipper larger Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) safely and confidently.

Building on the foundations introduced in RIB Skipper 1, this course introduces more advanced seamanship, navigation and boat management techniques used in both recreational and professional boating environments. Throughout the day you'll gain practical experience handling larger RIBs while developing the judgement and confidence expected of a competent skipper.

Training includes pilotage, simple chartwork, chart plotter operation, collision regulations, towing, anchoring, weather awareness and practical manoeuvring. By the end of the course you'll have a broader understanding of operating RIBs safely, planning short passages and managing a vessel responsibly.

RIBs in this size range are widely used as yacht tenders, safety boats, dive boats, workboats and support craft for flotillas and sailing events. They are also commonly carried aboard superyachts for transporting guests and crew ashore, assisting with docking manoeuvres and resupplying larger vessels.

Whether your goal is recreational boating, supporting sailing activities or progressing towards a professional yachting career, the ISSA RIB Skipper 2 Course provides the practical experience and confidence to take the next step.
